Money multiplier
How many dollars of deposits the banking system can create from each dollar of new reserves: at most . With a 10 percent reserve ratio, 100 dollars of new reserves can become up to 1,000 dollars of deposits. In practice it is smaller, because banks hold extra reserves and people hold cash.
